House Sitting

House sitting can be an excellent option for anyone with worries about leaving their house with it’s valuable assets, unattended for any duration of time. We offer a professional house (and pet) sitting service that will help alleviate any concerns you may have about leaving your house, pets, livestock or gardens alone whist you are away.

 

Pet Sitting

It can cost a fortune to put your pets in care when you are away. It can also cause stress to your pets who have to stay in unfamiliar surroundings with numerous other disorientated pets they may not get along with. Wouldn’t you rather have a pair of animal lovers live with your pets and give them the very same treatment in your absence that they would normally expect from you? We will tend to their every need, maintaining their usual routines; feeding, walking grooming and giving them the important comfort they require until your safe return…

 

Security

The security of our property and possessions is of paramount importance to us all. When you leave your property unattended for any significant period you run the risk of burglary or vandalism and indeed most insurance companies prohibit extended absences in the provision of their cover. To this end we can fill the gap and provide the best security of all…a presence in the house and on the property at all times. Additionally you do need to consider the upkeep of any gardens or greenhouses, a service which comes as standard within the terms of our house-sitting agreement.

 

Our Rates

Providing a professional Service does mean that we may be obliged to charge for this Service. Any rate we charge does depend upon the location and nature of the house-sit and the number of dependent pets and our personal circumstances at this time (Please do not hessitate to contact us to discuss). Our rates cover our insurance, minimal business costs, a capped travel cost and a daily subsistence allowance. These costs can of course be offset against additional insurance premiums and costly kenneling and cattery fees….AND we can run you to the airport!!

It is interesting to consider the cost of leaving your pets behind when you leave for any period of time….please consider the example below: 

The following table is an extract from WWW.boardingkennel.org and defines what you might expect to pay just for kenneling your loved pet.

 2 weeks would be about         £210 – £700    (For a single dog) 

Country	Daily Boarding Kennels fees for the best: (highest standards, lower kennel numbers, more personal attention and care) boarding kennels or luxury dog hotels
UK:	£15 – £50 daily
USA:	$30 – $100 daily
Canada:	$30 – $100 daily

Info from Cattery sites ( eg www.westlodgecattery.co.uk ) indicate that you might expect to pay just for placing your cat in the care of a cattery.

2 weeks would be about      £98 to £224     (For a single cat)

Remember too that you would have to select the kennel or cattery and endure the trauma of taking and collecting your prized pet…I have been through this with my own dog and the kids blamed me for abandoning a family member and placing in an “institution” …tough being a parent, eh!!!

It all soon adds up so a lift to the airport to save the parking along with the peace of mind for the security of your home may sound increasingly attractive?

We are well travelled and have lived in numerous countries. Dependent upon availability, term of house-sit and availability of transport links we are willing to work anywhere in the world. Please feel free to drop us a line even if you live on the other side of the world to us! We are avid travellers and love experiencing different cultures and climates! We have also developed a network of trusted housesitters who, if we were unavailable, we would be very happy to recommend to you.

All of the above can be considered and adjusted to suit individual client needs and would be dependent upon terms agreed during establishment of our commitment to you.

Pet-sitting

• Dog walking
• Pet feeding
• Arranging/conducting pet grooming
• Cleaning of bedding or mucking out if livestock
• Maintaining the pet/livestock food supplies
• Ensuring pets are secure at night
• Ensuring that any other livestock is managed in accordance with any agreements
• Exercising Horses, either on long rein or riding (Dependent upon terms agreed during establishment of our commitment to you)
• Attendance at obedience classes if required
• Arranging any veterinary services
• Providing regular updates via e mail, messenger or even Skype if available (You may even be able to see your pets whilst you are away from them)
